Sri Lanka 2009 endemic clean up 15th - 29th November

Cost £1800 per person sharing twin, excluding international flights. £125 single supplement. During this trip you can expect to see 32 of the 33 endemics, the Ceylon Bay Owl can be very difficult.

Day 1 - After breakfast leave for Kitulgala from a hotel near airport . (Assuming that the group arrives either very early in the morning on first day or has arrived in the previous night).

After lunch visit Kitulgala rainforest.

Looking for wet lowland forest birds including endemics and nocturnal birds. Also butterflies, forest mammals and other wildlife.

Day 2 - Full day at kitulgala rainforest.

Day 3 - Morning leave for Ratnapura.

Day 4 - Morning lave for Sinharaja and checking at a lodge near the forest.

Full day at Sinharaja rainforest.

Looking for wet lowland forest birds including endemics and nocturnal birds. Also butterflies, forest mammals and other wildlife.

Day 5 - Full day at Sinharaja rainforest

Day 6 - Morning leave for Embilipitiya.

After lunch visit Udawalawa National Park consisting grassland and forest in dry climatic conditions.

Looking for dry forest, open country and grassland birds including some endemics. Also butterflies, open country and forest mammals, and other wildlife.

Day 7 - Morning leave for Tissamaharama (Tissa).

After lunch visit Yala National Park consisting wetlands, grasslands, scrublands and forest in dry climatic conditions.

Looking for waterbirds, shorebirds, dry open country, forest and nocturnal birds including some endemics. Also butterflies, open country and forest mammals, and other wildlife.

Day 8 - Morning visit Bundala National Park consisting wetlands, scrublands and forest in dry climatic conditions.

Looking for waterbirds, shorebirds, coastal seabirds, dry open country and forest birds including some endemics. Also butterflies, open country and forest mammals, and other wildlife.

Afternoon visit wetlands in and around Tissa.

Day 9 - Morning leave for Nuwara Eliya in the high hills, via tall dry forest of Ruhunu National Park.

Day 10 - Visit Horton Plains National Park consists of Grasslands and montane forest in higher cool climatic conditions.

Day 11 - Leave for Kandy . Visit Botanic gardens.
